Australia's 2009 Miss Universe beauty Rachel Finch has stormed into a hot $1.72 favourite today with top entertainment bookmaker Centrebet after a punter wagered $5,000.00 on a series of shortening prices!

The Qld beauty could follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Hawkins by taking the global title later today in the Bahamas after being constantly backed, especially in the last 24 hours!

Centrebet media chief Neil Evans said the Qld water ski-loving stunner was a much wider $3.85 favourite yesterday, but in the last 12 hours, a specialist entertainment punter bet $1,000.00 at $3.85! "He then came back and outlaid several more bets at $3.00, and then a final $1,000.00 at $2.35," Evans said. "This $5,000.00 onslaught followed a rush of money for Miss Finch late last week, and she has now tumbled from $4.00 into $1.72 in the last few days, and is the first odds-on favourite in Miss Universe pageant for years!"

The closest to Miss Finch on Centrebet is Miss Dominican Republic ($8.00) ahead of Miss Mexico ($10.00)! Miss Finch is a super short $1.25 favourite on Centrebet to finish in the top five ahead of Miss Dominican Republic ($2.00)!

Evans said this was one of the biggest individual plunges on a Miss Universe contestant in many years, with Miss Finch originally $11.00 when the market first opened!
