Centrebet media chief and race analyst Neil Evans said the first wave of money came for rising star Trusting at the opening price of $4.85! “We took immediate bets of $2,500.00 at $4.85, $2,000.00 at $4.75 and then $1500.00 at $4.85 again, with the horse still at that quote,” he said. “We will look to take Trusting on believing he will get back to last and there may be a distinct lack of pace in the middle stages!”
The longer price push has come for the Bart Cummings-trained So You Think who has firmed from an opening $11.00 into $9.50 on Centrebet! “There was an early wager of $2,000.00 at $11.00 before punters came back at the $9.50, including bets of $3,000.00 and $1,500.00,” Evans said.
But the most intriguing move has come for the consistent Starspangledbanner who has shortened from an opening $12.00 into $11.00, after a surge of money today, including one client who unloaded nearly $7,000.00 across several bets from $12.00 down!
The Peter Snowden-trained star Denman is still a $2.80 favourite on Centrebet to win the three-year-old classic, but original second fancy, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Manhattan Rain, has drifted to $5.00 after little or no interest was shown at the $4.75!
Meanwhile, Whobegotyou has opened a $2.50 favourite on Centrebet for Saturday’s Group 1 Yalumba Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield, with weight-for-age rival Heart of Dreams priced at $3.20!
And Whobegotyou continues to be heavily backed to win the Cox Plate (2040m) on Oct 24, with a Melbourne punter betting $15,000.00 at $4.00, but an almighty firmer is WA star Scenic Shot who has been backed to win nearly $750,000.00, firming from an opening $101.00 a couple of months back to $15.00!
