Punters have launched a huge move today for the Paul Murray-trained Predatory Pricer to win the Caulfield Cup, believing he will hoist the local flag above the highly-spruiked overseas invasion, smashing it into the new $7.50 favourite on Centrebet!
Centrebet media chief and race analyst Neil Evans said $100,000.00 had arrived for Predatory Pricer in the last few hours, despite concerns over the journey at Group 1 level, including one racing client who’s bet $45,000.00 at $8.50 and $8.00, another who’s unloaded $25,000.00 at $8.50, a regular client who bet $12,000.00 and a further $10,000 from a racing VIP – all at $8.50!
“It’s been an astonishing turnaround in the last few hours,” Evans said. “While the money is still coming for Cima de Triomphe, Predatory Pricer has been hammered – and already we’re standing it for nearly $1 million. But we believe it’s a horse we can take on right up to the jump, even though it’s in to $7.50 favourite!”
Evans said the relentless plunge on Predatory Pricer all came in the space of two hours, and has potentially blown the overseas credentials apart! The Godolphin-trained Kirklees is now on the second line at $8.00, while the highly-rated Luca Cumani-trained Cima de Triomphe is back to $8.50!
“Strange thing is I believe Kirklees is a superior horse having watched a lot of their UK and European runs, but reports about the horse suffering travel sickness have shied punters away!
Cima de Triomphe was $10.00 going into the draw, but was heavily backed early in to $8.50, amid bets of $10,000.00 at $9.00, $5,000.00 at $9.50, $3,000.00 at $9.50, $2,500.00 at $9.00 and $2,000.00 at $8.50 amid a long string of wagers between $100.00 and $1,500.00.
And Bart Cummings’ Allez Wonder has also been a shortener down to $10.00, and will be a multi-million dollar pay-out in futures markets if it claims the Caulfield-Melbourne Cup double!
• Meanwhile, Sydney's favourite mare Hot Danish has been sensationally backed on Centrebet from an opening $3.30 down to $2.85 clear favourite for the Tristarc Stakes. "It's payback time for punters who were let down by Hot Danish last start at Flemington, knowing she will be ridden a lot closer to the speed here," Evans said.
"She's the only one punters want, with nearly $25,000.00 in bets arriving in the last 24 hours!"
