Leading financial bookmaker Centrebet has a 0.25 per cent rate rise a $1.45 favourite when the Reserve Bank announces its next official move on Melbourne Cup day, but a heavier 50 bp hike is also well in the market at $2.10!
Leading financial bookmaker Centrebet has a 0.25 per cent rate rise a $1.45 favourite when the Reserve Bank announces its next official move on Melbourne Cup day, but a heavier 50 bp hike is also well in the market at $2.10!
Centrebet media chief and financial analyst Neil Evans said the RBA’s critical decision next Tuesday (Nov 3) would absorb punters who, for the first time in betting history, can wager on the day’s big double – the correct Interest Rate decision into the Melbourne Cup winner!
“Our economy continues to show above-average resilience to absorbing monetary pressure, and rebounding strong in key commercial sectors like housing,” Evans said. “Monetary moves come in sustained cycles so the RBA is not likely to make an earlier-than-expected increase in October and then and not follow it with another one in November! It’s a matter of how far they go before a likely cooling-off over the Christmas period!”
Outside of the two short-priced options, punters can get $6.00 for the official cash rate staying on hold, $17.00 for an increase above 50 bp and a whopping $101.00 for any shock fall in the figure!
But Evans said Centrebet was also offering a series of doubles which would fascinate punters big and small! “Now they can off-set any increase in mortgage payments, by backing the correct decision and doubling it into some of the leading racing players on Melbourne Cup day,” Evans said!
Centrebet is offering $5.50 for a 25bp rate rise into any Bart Cummings horse winning the Melbourne Cup, among them ruling co-favourite and 2008 champion Viewed, the well-fancied Roman Emperor, Toorak winner Allez Wonder, and maybe outside hope Dandaad! You can get $8.00 for a 50 % rate rise into a J.B.Cummings horse!
The bookmaker is offering $5.75 for a 25bp increase into a Lloyd Williams-owned runner, among them 2007 Cup winner and co-favourite Efficient, Cox Plate third place-getter Zipping and Cest le Guerre who finished third in the Melbourne Cup last year!
Punters can also back any RBA option into Alcopop – the rising star from South Australia who has stormed to the top of Cup betting – at $10.00 or $15.00, while the doubles favourites are $2.25 for a 25bp rate rise into Any Other Cup Runner!
