Brownlow Betting at its best with Centrebet. Don't Just Watch It, Live It!
Centrebet's 2010 Brownlow medal betting odds are available to Centrebet customers with the early money coming for D.Swan.
Dane Swann has been a well-backed favourite and if the money is anything to go buy it is very much a three-horse race dominated by Swan $2.00 followed by Ablett $5.00 then Hodge at $8.00.
Betting on Australian Rules Football (AFL)in particular the Brownlow has become a favourite pastime for Australian punters. So much so that now Centrebet doesn't only offer who will win, but the winner from each team, Winner of a group and even Head 2 Head markets.
The Brownlow has been the epitome of the league's best and fairest player in home and away games. Prior to the Brownlow Medal the most prestigious award available to the players was the "Champion of the Colony", which was awarded from 1858 - 1945.
A look at the past...
In 2005 Chris Judd was the shortest opening favourite we have ever had at $7. Over the years it has been Crawford, McLeod, Buckley, Voss, Hird, Riccuito, Goodes and company who have dominated the markets, but as time rolls on new faces come into the game and start to create their own profile. We now see the likes of Swan, Ablett, Pendelbury, Judd (still), Selwood, Sandilands, Cooney and Hodge dominating the brownlow betting.
Brownlow betting is great for the punters there is always value and the decision is never final until the last few rounds votes come in, (see Spida's comments on this weeks "8 Is Enough" segment with Neil Evan) making it an exciting market for the punter to bet on.
It has become more obvious over time looking at the winners, and then looking at the prices for this year, that the mid-fielders should, and do, dominate the betting. One player to always keep a close eye on is Geelong's Gary Ablett $5.00.
Brownlow Betting and how it works...
After each match of the 22 round season, the three field umpires award 3 points, 2 points and 1 point to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best player on the ground. Any disciplinary action by the tribunal throughout the season is an instant disqualification from the medal. The night of the Brownlow Medal, all votes are counted up and a winner is awarded the medal. Rather than the old countback system in the case of a tie, these days we can have multiple winners.
