Round 4 NRL Preview
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Manly Sea Eagles
The Rabbitohs finally struck some form last week, recording a dominant victory against the Eels. This week they take on the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday night with a couple of injury concerns. Both Rhys Wesser and Sam Burgess have been ruled out of the line-up with injuries. At the start of the week the Rabbitohs and Eagles were listed at head to head odds of $1.91 each of two, but the Rabbitohs have been the big drifters, going out to very decent odds of $2.20.
The Sea Eagles have started the season with a couple of wins, and have looked good without being great. Both the Stewart brothers and Anthony Watmough must play well tonight for the eagles to have any chance, and although they’re currently listed as $1.67 favourites for the clash, those odds seem a bit short away from home.

Brisbane Broncos vs Penrith Panthers
The Broncos host the Panthers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday Night, and will be looking for their first win at home this season. The Broncos are currently listed as $1.35 favourites in comparison to the Panthers at $3.25. If form is anything to go by, the Broncos should bolt in this week, however with the NRL competition so far being unpredictable, anything can happen.
The Panthers are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Sharks last week, and with the injury to prop Sam McKendry ruling him out of the line-up, the Panthers have got a tough task in Brisbane. Surely the team will be fired up after a dismal performance last week, but they have already won away from home this season, and an upset wouldn’t surprise any.
Tip: Broncos by 2
Canberra Raiders vs Gold Coast Titans
On Saturday evening the Gold Coast Titans travel to Canberra in search of their first victory of the season. The Titans are one of two teams to not a have a victory this season, and with the calibre of players in their line-up, they should have their first victory very soon.
The Raiders are currently listed as $1.40 favourites with Centrebet in comparison to the Titans at $3. The Titans represent tremendous value for a team that includes Scott Prince, Luke Bailey and Preston Campbell, and should win this week.
Tip: Titans by 10
Parramatta Eels vs North Queensland Cowboys
The Parramatta Eels have really been struggling this season, and ever since their first round victory over the Warriors, they haven’t looked like the same team since. The Eels are $1.72 favourites in comparison to the Cowboys at $2.14 with Centrebet. This match will be a real test for both sides, with the Eels struggling for form and the Cowboys looking to post back to back victories, so it could be a coin flip.
If the Cowboys can replicate their enthusiasm from Last Monday’s match against the Storm, they will win easily. If Jarryd Hayne and Nathan Hindmarsh can lead and have strong performances, this match will be a tight one.
Tip: Cowboys by 4
Cronulla Sharks vs NZ Warriors
Tipped as wooden spoon favourites for this season, the Sharks have posted two brilliant victories over 2010 Premiers the Dragons as well as Penrith. Their defence has been a great; a complete reversal from last season, and their confidence is led from the exciting halves combination of Albert Kelly and Wade Graham. Many believe the Sharks have one of the best forward packs in the competition, and with the team taking their home match to NZ, there will be far fewer Sharks fans than Warriors fans on Sunday.
The Warriors are surprisingly favourites for this encounter at $1.65 and the Sharks are $2.27 with Centrebet.
With the Warriors looking for their first victory for 2011, and the Sharks having to travel to New Zealand, this match will also likely come down to the final 10 minutes.
Tip: Warriors by 6
Newcastle Knights vs St-George Illawarra Dragons
The Dragons travel to Newcastle on Sunday afternoon to play a team that also has two victories this season. The Dragons are currently listed as $1.50 favourites for the clash, while the Knights are $2.62 with Centrebet.
The Dragons were very good last week against the Warriors, with the controlled kicking game of Jamie Soward proving to be the difference. The Knights on the other hand had a number of injuries throughout their loss last week to the Sea Eagles.
This match looks to be a close one on paper, but the home ground advantage to the Knights might just get them over the line.
Tip: Knights by 8
Sydney Roosters vs Wests Tigers
The Roosters are currently listed as $1.48 favourites against the Tigers at $2.68 with Centrebet. Although Tigers halfback Robert Lui and Centre Chris Lawrence have both been ruled out of the clash this week, this match is a real danger game for the Roosters who are coming off a narrow defeat last week to the Bulldogs.
The Roosters halves combination should prove the difference in this week’s clash, and they should score quite a few points this weekend.
Tip: Roosters by 19
Melbourne Storm vs Canterbury Bulldogs
The Storm is playing their second Monday Night Football match in 2 weeks when they take on the league leading Bulldogs in Melbourne.
The Storm is listed as $1.72 favourites over the Bulldogs at $2.14 in a tight contest. With Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith leading the team, the Storm will be fired up to erase last week’s thrashing from the Cowboys.
It should be a very close contest, but the Storm should emerge victors in their Monday night clash.
Tip: Storm by 8
