After inflicting the first defeat on Sepoy in the Todman a fortnight ago, a sizzling track gallop earlier in the week, and the daunting words of jockey Glen Boss “just keep this thing breathing,” punters on Centrebet continue piling into unbeaten colt

Centrebet’s Neil Evans said Smart Missile was shortening all the time ($5.50 into $4.60), and could even displace Sepoy as race favourite by the time the starter lets the two-year-olds go at Rosehill tomorrow.
“Considering, punters are wary about the ‘flukey’ weather, the racing pattern, it’s been a sustained move for Smart Missile. Since he was tightened from $5.50 into $4.80 after drawing gate five, we’ve taken hundreds of bets, including $7,000.00 at $4.60, $5,000.00 at $4.80, $2,000.00 at $4.80 and $1,000.00 at $4.60. Then there’s a heap of action up to $1k where several punters have come back several times,” Evans said. “In contrast Sepoy had to drift from $3.20 out to $3.80 before we saw some action – a string of $1,000.00 bets – but still nothing big for a horse that had been hailed as the best two-year-old in a decade before his defeat in the Todman!”
In other Slipper action on Centrebet, Evans reported very good support for the great Bart Cummings hope Salade at very good odds! “They keep turning up, we’ve taken scores of bets including $1500.00, $1,000.00, $800.00, $600.00 and $500.00 all at the $15.00 quote. We’ll leave it there, we don’t like his chances at only his second race start at all,” he added.
Magic Millions winner Karuta Queen has also been well specked from $16.00 down to $14.00, but punters are going right around the Reisling winner Elite Falls (safe with us at $9.00) and even more so Satin Shoes – a noticeable drifter from $12.00 out to $14.00! There’s also little support for Foxwedge at the $8.00.

Meanwhile, a two-horse betting war has developed ahead of the Group 1 BMW (2400m), although the bigger and sharper money is still coming for Caulfield Cup winner Descarado! “As soon as they see the clouds out the window, they put more on,” Evans said. “He’s $3.85 into $3.75 and threatening to start much shorter after bets of $5,000.00 at $3.85 and $4,000.00 and $1,000.00 at $3.75. Early favourite Maluckyday drifted from $3.00 out to $3.40, but the money then came, including a wager a short time ago of $7,000.00 at $3.20. Earlier there was a bet of $2,000.00 at $3.40. Evans said yesterday a punter had $1,000.00 each-way on Cedarberg at $41.00 (now $31.00)! And punters on Centrebet believe only two horses can win the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) for three-year-old fillies! Melbourne raider and super last-start winner Do Ra Mi has taken over the “hold” including a bet this morning of $8,000.00 at $4.00. VRC Oaks winner Brazilian Pulse has eased from $2.85 out to $3.00, despite scores of smaller bets up to $1k. Nothing else has been touched.
The money is all over the place in a wide open Group 1 George Ryder (1500m), with Danleigh the best backed this morning including $1,000.00 at $8.50. Triple Elegance has also been well supported at the $10.00, while Skilled has firmed from $14.00 into $13.00 after a surge of money including $1,000.00 at $13.00. Little support for $4.80 race favourite Aloha.
