Canadian Ice Hockey Betting 2004 Overview:

Canadian Hockey League (CHL) betting odds are offered on the three sub leagues - WHL (Western Hockey League), OHL (Ontario Hockey League) and the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League). These Leagues catering to more than 50 franchises covering the entire country. The winner of each league + one "host wild card" will play for the prestigious Memorial Cup - in mid May, crowning the best Junior team in Canada.

CHL is very much the "Heart and Soul of Canadian Hockey" and each team has their own loyal fan base. Attendances topping 10 000 spectators is not uncommon with the top teams from the bigger cities. More than anything the CHL is a learning ground for the future stars of NHL. Several of the top picks in next year's NHL draft are currently skating with their respective junior teams.

The Western Hockey league is considered as the roughest and toughest of the three leagues. Last year's winner of the Memorial Cup - Kitchener Rangers delivered proof of that and clinched the 2003-cup after an intense battle with Hull Olympique from QMJHL in the final match.

The Ontario Hockey League has 20 teams divided into four divisions. Ottawa 67's coached by the famous Brian Kilrea is normally considered the best team together with Toronto St Michael's and this year also London Knights.

One of the hottest young players in North America is currently skating for the top team in the QMJHL. The 16-year old Rimouski -centre Sidney Crosby is by the NHL Central scouting bureau already ranked as the future superstar - The new Wayne Gretzky in Canadian Hockey. His point production this year is not exactly pulling down the expectations. With 66 points in only 30 games he is leading the scoring race not only in the QMJHL but also in the entire CHL.

Centrebet offers online sports betting facilities on most major sporting codes and events from all over the world, including English Premier League and betting on winter sports.
