Icc Champions Trophy Cricket - The Basics
The official site of the ICC Champions Trophy describes the event as, "A month-long celebration of one-day cricket ... (that) brings together the 10 Test-playing countries for the only time outside the ICC Cricket World Cup." This description of the ICC Champions trophy perfectly illustrates why the event has been affectionately dubbed the Mini World Cup.
The ICC Champions Trophy was first played in 1998 with subsequent events played every two years since. Originally known as the ICC Knock-out on the first two occasions it was played, in Bangladesh in 1998 and Kenya in 2000, the tournament's name was changed for the 2002 event in Sri Lanka.
In 2006 Australia won the competition for the first time in its history. Pakistan have recently been named host of the 2008 ICC Champions Trophy, and the ICC plans a revision of the competition format, with plans to reduce the number of competitors to eight so that competitiveness and quality of the matches can be increased.
Icc Champions Trophy Cricket - Bet Types
Centrebet offers a large range of ICC Champions Trophy cricket betting options including; head-to-head bets, highest opening partnership, most players dismissed by run out, team to hit the most sixes in innings, innings high bats, runs made by batsman, batting head-to-heads, bowling head-to-heads, method of dismissal, man of the match and next man out.
Exotic bet types are also offered as potential one-sided games can often throw up an odd result. For example, during the 2004 ICC Champions trophy Centrebet took a bet of $4000 at $1.40 that South Africa would hit more sixes than Bangladesh in their match early in the week. Bangladesh batted first and were bundled out for 93 runs. The South Africans leisurely reeled that total in, but neither side put one over the boundary fence.
