26th October 2011 A host of names will be looking to work their way into the Melbourne Cup starters list with a win at the Mackinnon Stakes on Saturday at Flemington. Names like Midas Touch, Rekindled Interest, Glass Harmonium and more could assure their spot and shorten in the Melbourne Cup betting odds with a win.
25th October 2011 Caulfield Cup runner-up Green Moon will have to win the Group 3 Lexus Stakes on Saturday to guarantee a start in the Melbourne Cup. Green Moon is currently 34th in the order of entry for the Melbourne Cup, with trainer Lloyd Williams backing his chances of going the distance.
24th October 2011 Tullamore has continued an impressive run of form on the Victoria tracks after placing 2nd behind Melbourne Cup favourite Americain in the Moonee Valley Cup. Trained by Gai Waterhouse, Tullamore was able to back up his 3rd in the Caulfield Cup with a sound run. He currently sits at $19.00 in Centrebet’s Melbourne Cup betting odds.
20th October 2011 Cummings rests hopes on Illo Champion trainer Bart Cummings is resting his hopes on German import Illo to provide him with a record 13th Melbourne Cup. Illo, a 6 year old stallion, has only run in front of the master trainer once, but is still considered a strong chance by Cummings. A better idea of where he stands will be had after Illo runs in the Drake International Cup (race 6) on Saturday at Moonee Valley. Melbourne Cup favourite Americain will also feature, giving punters a good indication on Illo’s chances for the big one.

Starters & horse names for Melbourne Cup 2011 Looking to find a winner for the 2011 Melbourne Cup? You’ve come to the right place! Centrebet is proud to provide all the information on the field for The Melbourne Cup in 2011, ensuring that you are up to date with any Australian or International runners that have a chance of taking out the big one.
Americain is 2010’s Melbourne Cup champion and current favourite for 2011’s edition. Didn’t race in the Geelong Cup as he did last year – will he appreciate the new lead-up routine.
Lucas Cranach finished just outside of the placings first up at Caulfield last start. Has big wraps on him in Europe which is why he’s up there in the betting odds.
Dunaden is coming off a Geelong Cup win first up, mimicking Americain’s approach in his 2010 Melbourne Cup winning year. Also from France.
Green Moon worked hard for a second place last start at the Caulfield Cup. Shown he can go the distance, even if it was a weaker field.
Lion Tamer won the Underwood early on, but was right out of it in the Caulfield Stakes last start. Mixed form but has won over the longer distances in the past.
Bauer’s best finish in the Melbourne Cup was a second in 2008. Showed that he still had it with a third in the Geelong Cup – will the Melbourne Cup elude him again?
**Jukebox Jury** hasn’t raced yet in Australia, but is proven over the longer distances on the European tracks. Tough to call on without a read on his spring form.
Shamrocker has been thereabouts in the early Melbourne Cup odds, but hasn’t shown top notch form this spring. Has the pedigree and could go the distance.
Midas Touch has ran well in races with other quality stayers, ensuring he is paid his due respects when it comes to Melbourne Cup horses. Outsider but a chance.
Tullamore finished third in the Caulfield Cup after seemingly not being in contention. That run will give him great confidence going into the Melbourne Cup.
