Super 12 Rugby Betting 2005
17th June 2008, by Taylor Luk
Centrebet will offer 2005 Super 12 Rugby betting as part of our extensive range of 2005 Rugby Union betting SANZAR (South African, New Zealand and Australian Rugby) oversees the popular Super 12 rugby provincial competition in which Australia has three sides (Brumbies, Reds and Waratahs), New Zealand has five (Blues, Chiefs, Crusaders, Highlanders and Hurricanes) and South Africa has four (Bulls, Cats, Sharks and Stormers) fighting for the trophy. Betting on Super 12 Rugby was always destined to grow after the massive success of the Rugby World Cup hosted by Australia in 2003.
Super 12 betting will kick off with the first match on Friday February 25, 2005, although our future betting book is already open. The Super 12 competition runs from February 2005 to May 2005 and comprises 12 provincial teams from South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. The 12th and final week of the draw is played on Friday May 13, and Saturday May 14, 2005. The competition then moves to the finals elimination playoffs. The 2004 Super 12 winners were the Canberra based Brumbies, and the 2003 Super 12 Rugby competition was won by the Auckland Blues.
Super 12 Rugby Betting Options Include:
In 2005, Centrebet's Super 12 betting options for rounds include: match winner, first scoring play, halftime/fulltime double, and the winning margin. In the final, we generally offer odds on the first team to score, total game score, winning margin, halftime/fulltime double, first scoring play and first try scorer. The early money in season 2005 has the Brumbies as favourites, followed by the Crusaders and the Auckland Blues. Maybe 2005 will be the year for the NSW Waratahs? Despite a great season start last year, the Waratah's form slumped badly midseason.
Other Rugby Betting Opportunities:
Centrebet offers books on most major rugby tournaments, including Trinations betting odds, Six Nations rugby betting and Bledisloe Cup odds. The Tri-Nations competition was developed at the same time as the Super 12 competition, back in 1996. Tri-Nations involves a Test Series between the Wallabies, the All Blacks and the Springboks.
Super 12 Competition And Points Format:
Super 12 is a round-robin tournament in which each of the teams play 11 games during the preliminary phase. The draw is of huge importance because it determines which sides get six home matches and which teams receive the poisoned chalice of six road trips. Futures punters wait until SANZAR releases the fixture list before betting, which makes a great deal of sense.
Teams get four points for a win, two for a draw and none for a loss. A bonus scheme operates to reward teams for attacking play and marginal defeats. Sides receive one point for scoring more than three tries. A loss by fewer than eight points also accrues the same prize, though these bonuses are of no solace to the unlucky punter who bets on the wrong team.
The top four sides at the end of the round-robin phase qualify for the semi-finals in which first entertains fourth and second hosts third. The semi-final winners contest the final, with the highest surviving seed staging the championship game at a stadium of its choosing.
